What I Learned
From the Room.

I sat down with regional executives to understand the strategies high schoolers and college students need to navigate the AI economy. Here's what they taught me.

IA Como Ventaja CompetitivaEP 07
AI as a Competitive Advantage
Pablo Del Valle · CEO Caribbean & Central America · Citi
Why strategy and data quality, not technology, decide who wins with AI.
My Takeaway
My conversation with Pablo gave me the anchor for my TEDx talk: AI must be a co-pilot that challenges human thinking, not a substitute that erodes critical judgment. I'm incredibly optimistic about his view on regional "leapfrogging" — we can skip developmental stages if we lead with ethics, curiosity, and human collaboration.
AI Strategy
La IA No ReemplazaEP 06
AI Doesn't Replace
Lucas Martínez · CIO · Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI)
Why soft skills and resilience, not just technical ability, define talent in the age of AI.
My Takeaway
Lucas perfectly articulated why I feel the need to master hard sciences and math: AI automates tasks, but a human with a strong logical foundation has to direct it. Soft skills like simplifying complex data and the natural resilience of the LATAM spirit are our ultimate advantages over machines.
Future of Work
Liderar o Quedar AtrásEP 05
Lead or Fall Behind
Gerardo Bonilla · Managing Partner · McKinsey
Why companies that integrate AI into their core will build a competitive advantage.
My Takeaway
Gerardo made it clear that real strategy isn't just "playing" with ChatGPT — it's integrating custom agents into core business processes. He opened my eyes to LATAM's productivity stagnation and how critical thinking and change management are the only skills truly immune to automation.
AI StrategyLeadership
Propósito Induce CambioEP 04
Purpose Drives Change
Janma Bardi · Chair & Founder · Volcano Summit
How to turn adversity into purpose and lead with authentic impact across LatAm.
My Takeaway
Janma's trajectory is pure resilience. It was inspiring to see how she turned early adversity into a clear purpose at MIT. Her work democratizing credit through ethical AI proved to me that, with rapid access to digital information, our generation doesn't have to wait for the future — we can build it ourselves.
LeadershipEntrepreneurship
Sinergia IA-HumanoEP 03
AI-Human Synergy
Rodolfo Portillo, PhD · VP · Intuit
Practical examples of how artificial intelligence amplifies human ingenuity instead of replacing it, plus advice for young Latin Americans to turn AI into opportunity and lead with purpose.
My Takeaway
Rodolfo brought Silicon Valley right to our doorstep. I love his idea of AI as a "multiplier of human ingenuity" — especially how Intuit uses it to supercharge financial experts rather than replace them. His advice to "jump right into the water" and experiment with constant curiosity is my new personal mantra.
Future of Work
Curiosidad Crea ÉxitoEP 02
Curiosity Creates Success
Rafael Noriega · CEO · Migo Payments
How young LatAm founders are scaling globally-competitive companies from day one.
My Takeaway
Speaking with Rafael completely flipped my technical perspective. I expected to discuss complex coding, but he showed me how Migo uses conversational WhatsApp commerce to eliminate friction where traditional websites fail. Human empathy and local consistency beat rigid algorithms every time.
Entrepreneurship
El Futuro Ya LlegóEP 01
The Future Is Already Here
Carlos Enrique Mata · VP · CEAL
How AI is transforming industries and reshaping career paths across the region.
My Takeaway
Carlos Enrique proved to me that AI is the new Internet — a tool for execution, not a magic fix. I was fascinated to learn how "digital rails" in logistics can protect LATAM's productivity amid demographic shifts, a reminder that the safest job today belongs to an entrepreneur who can unlearn to relearn.

AI Tools for Students & Founders

Initiative Vision

A Roadmap for the
Next Generation
of LatAm Leaders.

LatAm Forward is more than a podcast. It's a movement to bridge the gap between cultural background and career readiness in a world rapidly shaped by Artificial Intelligence.

Part of the vision is that, over time, this platform will become less centered on its founder and more owned by those who come after. Future generations of students will record new seasons of interviews and keep the resources fresh for a community navigating a fast-changing world.

Founder of LatAm Forward

Thomas Guerrero

Founder, LatAm Forward · Senior · The American School of Guatemala

After a summer program at Georgetown University, I realized how important AI will be for the future careers and professional lives of Latin American high-school and university students. I couldn't keep this to myself, so I built this initiative as my contribution to a roadmap for students like me, navigating new technologies, tools and competitive environments, while carrying the richness of the Latin American identity.

The Catalyst

From a very young age, I've been driven to understand and act on the world around me. Systems and machines fascinate me, but my real strength lies in connecting them with people. People come first, always, and my instinct is to look out for whoever is left on the margins and pull them back into the center of the game. That instinct took shape during my own journey with Addison's disease: seeing that many children lacked the opportunities I had, I found a way to bring medicines into Guatemala that weren't available locally. Real gaps call for real solutions, and those solutions come through action.

Why It Matters

LatAm Forward wasn't built to be a detached media outlet. It exists because I refuse to accept the widening divide facing Latin American youth in the AI era. My vision is a living ecosystem where students stop panicking about headlines and start compounding their own value, learning directly from the minds of leaders at companies like McKinsey and Citi.

"We cannot predict which industries technology will automate tomorrow, but we can actively choose what kind of leaders we will be today: relentless problem-solvers driven by empathy."
Thomas Guerrero collaborating with his team

Questions that
keep me up at night.

I don't have the answers to these yet — and that's the point. These are the open questions I'm genuinely curious about. If AI is going to reshape everything, I'd rather explore it with curiosity than face it with fear.

?

How can I use AI to help store owners in Guatemala scale their businesses?

?

How could AI help a city like mine tackle something as everyday as traffic?

?

What jobs will my generation invent that don't exist yet — and how do we prepare for them?

?

How do we keep human judgment in the loop as AI gets better at deciding for us?

You're Not
Alone in This.

My listeners aren't just an audience — they're a growing network of Latin American young leaders making an impact in schools, universities, startups, and the broader communities around them.
